Bottega is Italian for shop. A Bottega is the workshop of an artist and his pupils; in the workshop both the assistants and pupils would work on artworks commissioned from the master. As although
Patrons might commissioned works of art from the master, the artwork would not always be entirely the masters output. Instead the master might touch up the final painting and sign it once his assistants have completed the bulk of the work.
